More Better

What a difference a couple of weeks make!  It has been a full week of unpacking, cleaning, organizing, deliveries, estimates on repairs, scheduling of said repairs, breaking down cardboard boxes and the far too often " where did I put that?" question at hand.   Every night we would sit down on the couch and pass out by 8:00. Ok, that's not much different but the aches and pains of this old body are. Though, they seem to be becoming a bit more normal and don't look to be leaving anytime in the near future.  Last Saturday we had the washer and dryer being delivered. I felt I needed to apologize to the guy when I told him that the laundry room was upstairs. Which is really just a closet in the guest bathroom. ( if you come to visit this serves as a disclaimer that I reserve the right to have you throw in a load of towels while you're in there 😉) He said "that's fine". He sort of sounded like Juan Pablo, from last seasons The Bachelor,  when he said it

A Shot in the Arm

Sometimes, I need a shot in the arm. Today was one of those days. I've been a bit angry and fighting the temptation to get bitter since things haven't exactly been going my way lately. I know I shouldn't complain. I have so much to be thankful for. But truth be told, I absolutely, strongly dislike moving. It stinks! And we've done it four times now in 8 months. Might be a bit of an exaggeration since two of which were moving in and out of temporary housing but it's moving just the same. So much stupid stuff goes along with moving. The transferring utilities into our name, have you called a utility company lately? They are peachy to deal with once you get through the menu and actually get a person. Then they have to come out to install and that rarely goes smoothly. Drivers license, Car registration, Doctors, Dentist, more importantly, hair stylist! All new again. And of course, I'm anticipating all the boxes of paper stuffed items that will roll off the truck an

It's All Good

The movers are here and it's pretty cool, they sent the same couple who moved us from Arizona. I requested them because they did such a great job for us eight months ago. I didn't really expect my request to be met. It was fun to see them and reassuring that they didn't decline my request based on all of the junk we have to move again. I half expected to hear " Sorry Mrs.Rice, they said you have too much stuff." Instead I heard " you guys really downsized didn't you?" I guess you really get to know a person when you are literally in their business.  Most of the house is packed up, smells like cardboard and doesn't  really look like our home anymore. That's not a bad thing, makes leaving a bit easier. I can hear the sound of taping up boxes, rock music playing on someone's phone and  because I'm sitting next to the open window upstairs, the commuter train occasionally passing through. I love the sound of that train! I will miss it here
